Theater Company Sanwoolim, established in 1969, is the only theater company in Korea to have its own exclusive theater. Theater Sanwoolim opened in 1985 and has been a leading force in experimental plays for 31 years since then. Now that it has transformed itself into a multicultural venue, the public has high hopes for the reinvented theater.

It was Theater Company Sanwoolim’s director Lim Su-jin who spearheaded the theater’s transformation. She is the eldest daughter of the theater’s founder, Lim Young-woong, and when she took over the theater’s management four years ago she decided to make a bold change. It’s not strange that the cultural world is keeping a close watch on what she will do next.
