A report out of Tokyo says a former Japanese leftist terrorist group, which disbanded in 2001, shared close ties with North Korea.

The Tokyo Shimbun cited testimony from a former group member who is serving time. He said that a top official from the group showed him, while in Beirut, a letter asking North Korea for financial support in 1974.

He also said that in 1975, after two group members visited North Korea, they introduced a resistance ideology based on Pyongyang's Juche philosophy.

In 1970, the Japanese terror group hijacked a Japanese aircraft and flew to North Korea.
