US: NK is a Proliferation Threat

A recently issued U.S. Defense Department report has laid out threats posed by North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons.

The Pentagon's task force on nuclear weapons management, led by former Defense Secretary James Schlesinger, says "North Korea, India and Pakistan have acquired both nuclear weapons and missile delivery systems, while Iran is apparently headed down the same road."

It added that "the derivative danger from North Korea or Iran is that they may pass nuclear weapons or nuclear technology on to others."

The report also said a growing number of countries are capable of producing nuclear weapons and materials, saying that preventing these technologies from reaching terrorists has become increasingly difficult.
