All Rescued After Jet Crashes into Hudson River

Rescue efforts are nearing their conclusion after a mid-sized passenger jet crashed into the Hudson River in the U.S. State of New York.

Flight 1549 went down around 5:30 a.m., Korean time, after taking off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte, North Carolina, splashing into the river near Manhattan. All 155 on board were rescued. The number of injured has yet to be confirmed.

Rescue workers in police and Coast Guard vessels and ferry boats pulled passengers from the aircraft that was half submerged in the icy waters.

Officials have yet to identify the cause of the crash, but the Federal Aviation Administration says the aircraft is likely to have collided with a flock of birds before it went down.
