A report says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il met with a visiting Chinese official on Friday in Pyongyang.

China’s Xinhua News Agency said that Kim met with Wang Jiarui, head of the international department of China’s Communist Party during a Chinese delegation’s visit to North Korea.

This is the first time the North Korean leader has officially met with a foreign guest after reportedly suffering a stroke last summer.

Wang has met with various high-ranking officials after his arrival in Pyongyang Thursday, including North Korean Premier Kim Yong-il and head of the North’s Supreme People’s Assembly Choe Thae-bok.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency reported on the meeting between Wang and the North Korean premier on Thursday.
