China Closely Watching NK

China says it is closely monitoring the alleged satellite launch North Korea is currently pursuing.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said in a daily news briefing Tuesday that China hopes concerned countries will take necessary measures for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Asked about whether the North seems to preparing to launch a missile or a satellite, the spokesman only said Beijing supports U.N. missile sanctions on the North.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pyongyang’s Korean Committee of Space Technology said full preparations are under way to launch its “Gwangmyeongseong Two” satellite on its rocket “Eunha Two.”

However, South Korean intelligence officials believe the North is preparing to launch a Daepodong Two long-range ballistic missile.
