Korean Americans 5th Largest Asian Group in US

The U.S. government estimates that around one-and-a-half million people of Korean decent reside in the United States, making Koreans the fifth largest Asian community in the nation.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday, the population of Asian Americans in the U.S., including those of partial Asian descent, stood at 15-point-two million. That’s around five percent of the total U.S. population. The report forecast that the figure would reach nine percent by 2050.

Chinese Americans accounted for the largest Asian community in the U.S. with their population standing at three-and-a-half million. Filipinos were second followed by Indians and then Vietnamese.

The state of California had the largest Asian population of any U.S. state, with 14 percent of its residents being of Asian descent.
