The Korean Dokdo islets, land which Japan has been claiming for years, were not mentioned in a high school teaching guideline the Japanese Education Ministry released Monday.

The ministry says that it held true to the promise it made in December not to mention Dokdo in its revised guidelines.

Revisions instead include more of a focus on English. The ministry is urging for the introduction of classes conducted solely in English and an increase in the standard English vocabulary from 13-hundred words to 18-hundred.
