FM: Missile Launch Negatively Affects Nuke Talks

Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan says North Korea would violate a United Nations Resolution if it launches any kind of rocket, including a space vehicle, which is the current claim made by Pyongyang.

Speaking at a meeting hosted by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea Wednesday, the minister said the launch would negatively impact the six-party nuclear talks. He also denounced the North for making defamatory remarks against the South and raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Mr. Yu called the free trade agreement with the United States a good deal with balanced bilateral benefits that was reached through a long series of negotiations. He said he believes the pact will be ratified in the near future.
