S. Korean Becomes Head of Int'l Criminal Court

Former Seoul National University Professor Song Sang-hyun has been elected president of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In a closed plenary session in The Hague Wednesday, the judges of the ICC selected Song as the next head of the organization. He will maintain the post for the next three years.

Song has been working at the criminal court as a judge since 2003.

The International Criminal Court was established in 2002 to try and prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression.
