Int’l Aviation Org. Informed of NK Satellite Launch

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has received a formal notice from North Korea of the communist country’s plan to launch a satellite.

The ICAO said in a news release that Pyongyang announced its intention to launch a communications satellite some time between April fourth and eighth.

In the notice, two potential danger areas were identified. One was in the East Sea and the other in a different part of the Pacific Ocean.

The organization informed its member states of the North’s plan but demanded that Pyongyang provide more details on the satellite launch, including the exact route it will follow.

The North has also informed the International Maritime Organization of its launch plans.
