Foreigners possessing work permits and employed at Korean companies will be able to receive free medical service for one day this weekend.

The Ministry of Labor on Friday said it will provide free medical examinations for workers from Thailand at a center for foreign residents in the city of Ansan, south of Seoul.

Seoul National University Hospital, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea and the Korea Workers Accident Medical Corporation are scheduled to participate.

The ministry said it will also carry out consultations regarding overdue wages for the workers who attend.

Eventually, the ministry hopes to make it a nationwide event with similar services for workers from Vietnam, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka.
