South Korea’s top nuclear envoy will meet with Japanese officials Monday to discuss North Korea’s alleged preparations to launch a rocket.

Wi Sung-lak is scheduled to meet with Japan’s chief delegate to the nuclear talks, Akitaka Saiki, and Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone.

Wi and the Japanese officials are likely to discuss ways to block the North from launching a rocket early next month. The officials will also discuss possible countermeasures in the event Pyongyang does proceed with its launch as well as ways to reopen nuclear negotiations.
