The Russian Federal Agency for Atomic Energy has made clear that it has no intention to negotiate with North Korea on the building of light-water reactors.

Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency said Thursday that the Russian agency vowed Wednesday that it would not engage in any related negotiations with the North, which recently declared that it will seek to build light-water reactors.

In particular, the Russian firm said it will only negotiate with a country that is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency or one which has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
