US Hopes for 'Fruitful' Inter-Korean Dialogue

The United States says it hopes North Korea will use Tuesday’s inter-Korean meeting as an opportunity for fruitful discussions with South Korea.

State Department spokesman Robert Wood told reporters Monday that the U.S. encourages dialogue between North and South Korea.

He declined to comment on Seoul delaying its full participation in the U.S.-led Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI).

Wood added that the U.N. Sanctions Committee is expected to meet in the next day or so. He said Washington hopes the committee will soon finalize a list of North Korean goods and entities that will face U.N. sanctions in the wake of the North's April fifth rocket launch.
