'Japan Mulls Developing Missile Detection Satellite'

Japan is reportedly planning to develop an early-warning satellite system to independently detect any ballistic missile launched by North Korea.

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun said Wednesday that such a measure was included in Tokyo’s draft of a plan for space development.

The plan urges the need to introduce an early warning satellite system to increase Japan’s role in space, citing that North Korea launched a long-range missile on April fifth despite opposition from the international community.

According to Yomiuri, the Japanese government is expected to begin researching soon a plan which would have the early warning satellite system up and running within the next five years.
