The United States has selected international cooperation on North Korea’s missile and nuclear tests as one of its key foreign policy achievements of the past year.

The State Department said in a financial report for fiscal year 2009 that the first strategic goal of U.S. foreign policy for the year was to assure peace and security.

The report said that the U.S. "maintained an international coalition which condemned North Korea's missile and nuclear tests through the adoption of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874” and that such a move was one of Washington’s key accomplishments related to security.

The report also picked the resumption of negotiations with Russia on replacing the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) and holding the first round of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue as other top foreign policy achievements.
