Pakistan has denied a report that its politicians and military leaders were involved in or did not try to stop Doctor Abdul Qadeer Khan’s participation in North Korea’s nuclear program.

The local daily Dawn reported the Pakistani military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas said that such allegations have been found untrue and were therefore ignored, adding that the allegations have lost credibility as they are based on dubious sources.

The U.S. newspaper Washington Post had reported Tuesday that Pakistan had provided North Korea with vital equipment, blueprints and technological advice for at least six years. During that process, the paper said the Pakistani government had turned a blind eye to the transfer.
