Burj Dubai to Open Tuesday

The world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, will open Tuesday morning.

Standing 820 meters high, the 162-story building houses a hotel, apartment and offices.

South Korea’s Samsung C&T is part of the joint venture, along with Besix and Arabtec, that has been building the Burj Dubai for five years. Samsung C&T is known for its construction of other towering skyscrapers, including the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Taipei 101 tower in Taipei.

The Burj is the epitome of state-of-the-art, wind-and-quake resistance construction technology.

The Burj is over 300 meters taller than Taipei 101, which is the highest building to date.
