S.Koreans' Tax Burden among Lowest in OECD

South Koreans have been found to pay, on average, some of the lowest tax rates among members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

According to the 2009 edition of the OECD’s annual publication “Taxing Wages,” unmarried Koreans’ tax burden was 19-point-seven percent of their average income last year. The rate was the third lowest among OECD nations after Mexico and New Zealand.

In addition, OECD data shows a married couple with two children paid 17-point-two percent of their average income in taxes, the eighth lowest rate in the OECD.
