S.Korean Authorities to Join Security Screening in the US

The government announced a plan Friday to dispatch local security screeners to U.S. airports frequented by South Korean nationals.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in Seoul said it has signed an agreement to cooperate in air transportation security with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.

The agreement involves allowing a Korean screening official to participate in security inspections at U.S. airports that have airplanes departing to South Korea.

The two nations will also hold regular meetings for cooperation in air transportation security and to step up information exchanges and support to prevent terrorism.
