Chinese Embassy Staffers Travel to Mt. Geumgang

China says that some 20 employees of its embassy in North Korea have made a trip to the North’s Mount Geumgang resort at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry posted a travelogue on its Web site about a trip to North Korea’s Gangwon Province in which the 20 employees visited Geumgang from July 21st to the 23rd.

South Korean tours to Mount Geumgang have been halted since late April when North Korea seized privately owned South Korean properties at the North Korean resort.

The Chinese government also banned Chinese travel agencies in July from operating tours to Geumgang.
