Kim Yu-na Named Honorary Citizen of LA

World and Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na has been named an honorary citizen of Los Angeles, where large numbers of Koreans live.

Kim, who arrived in LA early Saturday morning, went straight to the LA City Council, where she received her citizenship paper from Herb Wesson of the Los Angeles city council.

She was also awarded a framed resolution to mark August seventh as "Yu-na Kim Day" which was signed by the LA Mayor and all members of the Los Angeles city council.

In return, Kim donated autographed figure skating boots, which will be kept permanently in the city hall.

Kim said it was an honor, as it was an unforgettable city for her. She won her first world championship title in the U.S. city in March 2009, a year before she won the Olympic gold medal in Vancouver.
