Iran’s vice president says South Korea will be penalized if it joins U.S. efforts to impose sanctions on Iran.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported Tuesday that Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi stressed during a meeting with education ministry officials the need to come up with stern measures should South Korea impose sanctions on Iran.

Rahimi criticized Seoul for aiming to impose sanctions on Iran while doing business in the Iranian market, adding that if South Korea ends up applying the sanctions, high tariffs must be imposed on Korean products.

Previously, Iran’s ambassador to South Korea said that Korean firms would lose their place in the Iranian market if Seoul joins other nations in slapping sanctions on Iran.
