Turkey’s energy minister has expressed a positive outlook on an agreement with South Korea for the construction of a nuclear power plant in his country.
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said Tuesday that his country and South Korea have drafted plans on construction guarantees, liability insurance and ways to procure resources.
He said that the details of the agreement will be finalized by the end of the month, noting that the head of the Korea Electric Power Corporation is slated to visit Turkey this week.
The minister also said that he is very hopeful about the agreement and is confident that his country and South Korea will be able to settle any issues they might have through mutual understanding.
Earlier in June, South Korea and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of energy and agreed to build a South Korean-style nuclear power plant in Sinop in northern Turkey.
