S.Korea-based Organization Opens Library in Ghana

A South Korean-based foundation has opened a new library in Ghana.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization Sustainable Tourism for Eliminating Poverty (UNWTO ST-EP) foundation opened one of its “Thank You Small Libraries” to assist children in underprivileged nations who do not have access to reading facilities.

The foundation, with the support of South Korea’s Cultural Ministry, donated some eight-thousand books, bookcases and computers to the library.

About one-thousand political figures from both nations attended the opening ceremony.

The project, which was launched in 2007 to fight poverty through education, has opened 75 libraries in eleven nations.
