S.Koreans Stranded in China

Ten South Koreans have been stranded for three days at a village in China's Xinjiang Province due to heavy rains in the region.

The South Korean consulate office in Beijing said Friday that the climbing team from the Kumoh National Institute of Technology safely climbed on Monday a 75-hundred meter mountain located south of Kashgar City.

The team, however, has been stranded at a village at the base of the mountain as torrential rains cut off traffic to the city where the airport is located.

The office said that the Chinese government and the province's capital city Urumqi had organized the climbing event and that the Korean expedition team is with a local guide and a translator.
