S.Korea, Poland Sign Nuke Power Cooperation Agreement

South Korea and Poland have signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.

The Polish government says the agreement will allow it to make use of South Korea’s experience in building and running nuclear power plants, nuclear waste processing and the training of experts in the sector.

Under the plan, nuclear energy will account for nine-point-three percent of all power generated in Poland by 2030. The use of coal and thermal energy will be reduced to 60 percent of the current level during the same period.

Poland is aiming to start operating its first nuclear power plants in 2022.
