US NGOs to Deliver Relief Supplies to NK This Month

The Voice of America (VOA) says U.S. nongovernmental organizations (NGO) will deliver disaster relief goods to North Koreans in areas struck by floods next week at the earliest.

The “Global Resource Service,” a U.S. NGO, told VOA that the exact timing for and amount of the aid remains undetermined because the delivery is being rushed.

VOA quoted NGO officials as saying that the groups are not getting financing from the U.S. government and are preparing the aid on their own.

The official said the Korea America Private Exchange Society, which is an agency within North Korea that works together with U.S. NGOs, will serve as a go-between.
