Thirteen-year-old American Jonathan Lee says he has delivered to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il a letter proposing the creation of a peace forest at the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjeom.

The ethnic Korean environmental activist arrived in Beijing on Thursday via a Koryo Air flight and told reporters that he felt very safe during his stay in North Korea, adding that he had visited various sites in the North, including the demilitarized zone.

Lee, accompanied by his parents, spent one week in the North.
