'China Agrees to Meet with NK before Nuke Talks Resume'

China’s top nuclear negotiator Wu Dawei reportedly agreed during a visit to North Korea earlier this week to hold an unofficial meeting with Pyongyang before the six-party talks are resumed.

The Mainichi Shimbun reported on Saturday that Wu announced the agreement while meeting with a former Japanese official in China.

According to the article, Wu said North Korea had also agreed to hold unofficial bilateral talks with the U.S. as well as with other chief negotiators before the six-way denuclearization talks begin.

Wu said he would explain the details of his trip to North Korea to South Korea and Japan during visits scheduled to come soon.

Wu was in Pyongyang from Monday to Wednesday, where he discussed with North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun and others ways to bring North Korea back to the six-way multilateral talks.
