US Reviewing Possibility of Dialogue with NK

The U.S. State Department says the upcoming U.N. General Assembly will provide the opportunity for the United States to engage directly with its partners in the six-way nuclear talks.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters that the U.N. gathering will also afford the U.S. the opportunity to see whether there might be a chance for further dialogue with North Korea.

He added, however, that there are still actions that Washington wants to see Pyongyang pursue that will convince the U.S. that such dialogue would be fruitful.

Crowley also said that U.S. wants to see an end to the North’s provocative actions that increase tensions in the region, such as the sinking of South Korea’s “Cheonan” naval vessel in March.
