A group of academics from South Korea, China and Japan have jointly produced a second history textbook.
Yonsei University Professor Shin Joo- baek and the Asia Peace and History Education Network, which took part in the book’s production, said Saturday that the joint history textbook will come out next spring. They said civic groups and historians from the three Asian countries had finished producing the book for adults after holding 12 rounds of compilation meetings since 2006.
The book’s publication comes after the civic groups and academics published a similar book for middle school students in 2005.
The first part of the book will deal with changes in international order in Northeast Asia while the latter part of the book will touch on the history of exchanges among the three countries in the areas of constitution, urbanization, railways and people. The book will also deal with the three countries’ history on family, schools, education, mass media and war.
The book will be published in Korean, Chinese, Japanese and English.
