List of Korean WWII Prisoners Made Public

A list of 26-hundred Koreans who were forced by Japan to fight in World War Two has been revealed.

During hostilities, the Korean conscripts were detained by the U.S. in prisoner of war internment camps in Hawaii.

The list was donated by a family member of a Korean World War Two conscript to a museum dedicated to the history of Koreans living in Japan.

The list was compiled on December 15th, 1945.

It details the names and hometowns of the prisoners of war, most of whom hailed from North Gyeongsang Province and South Jeolla Province.
