The Wall Street Journal has included scenes of North Korea's shelling of a South Korean island and a National Assembly brawl in Seoul in its photos of the year.

The caption for the Yeonpyeong attack reads that North Korea fired dozens of artillery shells at the South Korean island in the Yellow Sea November 23rd, killing four, setting homes ablaze and triggering an exchange of fire.

Under the Assembly spat photo, the journal writes that members of South Korea's ruling Grand National Party scuffled with members of opposition parties who were blocking entry into the main hall of parliament in Seoul December eighth. It added that the government rammed through the 2011 budget amid brawls between lawmakers.
