Vietnamese Gov’t Orders Striking Workers to Return to Work

The Vietnamese government has ordered 20-thousand striking workers of a South Korean shoemaker operating in the Southeast Asian country to return to work.

Taekwang Vina Industrial said in a news release Saturday that Vietnam’s labor arbitration committee made the order, asking the company to apply the principle of “no work, no pay” to laborers who refuse to go back to work.

Four-thousand workers at a nearby South Korean garment manufacturers in Vietnam are also on strike, demanding a pay raise.
