Gates to Visit S.Korea in January

U.S Defense Secretary Robert Gates will visit South Korea on January 14th to discuss issues related to North Korea and regional security.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said that during his stay in Seoul, Gates will meet with South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin to address the threats posed by North Korean provocations and the North’s nuclear and missile programs.

The two top defense officials are also expected to seek ways to further consolidate the alliance between South Korea and the United States.

Gates is scheduled to make a six-day trip to Northeast Asia from January ninth to the 14th. Along with South Korea, he will make stops in China and Japan.
