S.Korean Team Trains for Disaster Response in Phuket

A South Korean government team aimed at effectively addressing global disasters held a training session in Phuket, Thailand, from December 20th to the 23rd.

Mock drills for earthquakes and tsunamis were held by the team, with cooperation from the Phuket government and the South Korean Embassy.

The team practiced evacuating South Koreans and examining the remains of casualties.

The team was formed following the Indonesia tsunami of December 2004 which claimed 20 South Korean lives. The drills are held once a year in locations abroad with high populations of South Koreans.
