Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff reportedly held extensive discussions on a high-speed railway construction project in Brazil during one-on-one talks with the prime ministers of South Korea and Japan.

According to the Brazilian daily “O Estado de São Paolo” on Tuesday, the railway project was at the center of discussions between Rousseff and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik and former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso. The two attended Rousseff’s inauguration ceremony as special envoys of their countries.

The paper said the South Korean and Japanese governments showed keen interest in taking part in the 20-billion-dollar project.

South Korea is competing with China, Japan, Germany and France for the rights to the railway project.
