US, China Reaffirm Stances on Korean Peninsula

The United States and China have reaffirmed a joint statement made earlier this year regarding the importance of maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The two sides made the reaffirmation during the third round of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue that ended in Washington on Tuesday after a two-day run.

The 2011 U.S.-China Joint Statement was issued earlier in January after U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao held summit talks at the White House.

Moreover, the two leaders said they both believe that denuclearization is essential to secure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and they expressed concerns over North Korea’s alleged uranium enrichment program.
