US Senate Finance Cmte to Hold Korea FTA Hearing

The U.S. Senate Committee on Finance will hold a hearing on the free trade agreement with South Korea ahead of its ratification.

The U.S. magazine Inside U.S. Trade said the senate finance committee has tentatively scheduled a hearing with South Korea on the 26th. It is also expected to address FTAs with Columbia and Panama on May 25th. In the hearing, industry officials will present their opinions before congressmen.

South Korean lawmaker Nam Kyung-pil is the chairman of the foreign affairs and trade committee of the National Assembly. He told KBS Monday that a bill seeking ratification of the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement will likely be submitted to the National Assembly in late June or early July in line with the expected U.S. approval of the pact.
