South Korean director Kim Ki-duk's "Arirang" has won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard category at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.

Accepting the award on Saturday, Kim expressed his gratitude by singing a song from his prize-winning film.

Kim criticizes Korea's movie industry in "Arirang," which he wrote, directed, and even stared in all by himself.

With the prize-winning at Cannes, Kim has become the first South Korean director who won prizes at three major international film festivals at Berlin, Venice and Cannes.

South Korean films won prizes in the Un Certain Regard category for the second straight year, with Director Hong Sang-soo's "Ha Ha Ha" winning the top prize in the section last year.
