S.Korean Artist Wins Gold at Chelsea Flower Show

A garden design by a South Korean artist has won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show 2011, which opened Tuesday in London.

Environmental artist Hwang Ji-hae designed the winning work which is titled "On the Way to Haewuso." Haewuso is a traditional Korean toilet. Hwang’s piece won the gold in the Artisan Garden category.

Her design features black bamboo trees, a stone wall and Korean medicinal herbs to express a message of restoring life and emptying the mind.

The Chelsea Flower Show is the world's number one horticultural exposition and has been running for 180 years.
