Kim Jong-il Leaves Beijing for Pyongyang

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has left Beijing for Pyongyang after a seven-day trip to China.

Kim left the Diaoyutai State Guest House at 2 p.m. on Thursday for Beijing Station, where he boarded his special train and headed north.

Kim will likely return to Pyongyang via Shenyang, Dandong and Sinuiju, after crossing the border early on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, the North Korean leader visited Beijing’s Zhongguancun technology zone before heading for the capital's train station.

Kim on Wednesday held a summit with Chinese President Hu Jintao at the Great Hall of the People.

The details of the summit were not disclosed, but the two leaders are believed to have discussed various issues including bilateral economic cooperation, China’s food assistance and the North Korean nuclear issue.
