G8 Urges NK to Take Steps to Resume Nuke Talks

Leaders of the Group of Eight nations have denounced North Korea's provocations and urged the North to take concrete steps to resuming the six-party nuclear talks.

The leaders adopted a declaration to this effect at the G-8 Summit in Deauville, France that closed Friday.

The statement urged North Korea to take concrete steps to help foster an environment conducive to resume the six-party nuclear talks. It also expressed support for South Korea's efforts toward this goal.

The statement also denounced the North's nuclear and missile programs and its violation of various inter-Korean agreements.
