S.Korea Seeks Cooperation from US Veterans’ Org. in Defoliant Probe

A government task force is seeking the help of a U.S. veterans’ organization to investigate the alleged burial of the toxic defoliant Agent Orange at a U.S. Base in North Gyeongsang Province.

Head of the “Korean War Project” Ted Barker said that an official of the task force called him to ask for his cooperation in looking into the allegations. The Korean War Project is a Web site dedicated to the study of the Korean War.

Barker said that the South Korean official asked him to help bring former U.S. Forces Korea soldier Steve House to South Korea for the investigation. House is one of the former USFK soldiers who first raised suspicions about the burial of the hazardous waste.

Barker said that he promised to actively cooperate in the South Korean government’s probe.
