NK Remains One of the Worst Human Rights Abusers

North Korea remains at the bottom of an annual list on the world's most repressive countries.

The private U.S. organization “Freedom House” released its "Worst of the Worst 2011: The World's most Repressive Societies" report on Thursday, which identifies countries that are the world’s worst human rights abusers.

The U.S. organization said that under the North Korean regime, 23-million North Korean people live in a condition close to slavery and more than 200-thousand people are held at political prison camps. It added that at the prison camps, inmates are subjected to forced labor, torture, malnourishment and other inhumane treatment.

The "Worst of the Worst 2011" list includes Burma, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Chinese territory of Tibet.
