NK, China Celebrate 50th Anniv. of Signing of Accord on Friendly Ties

North Korea and China held various events on Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of a bilateral accord on promoting friendly ties and cooperation.

On Sunday, China’s State Councilor Dai Bingguo and the North’s Supreme People's Assembly Vice President Yang Hyong-sop attended a banquet in Beijing organized by the North’s Ambassador to China Ji Jae-ryong.

Meanwhile, a banquet organized by Chinese Ambassador to the North Liu Hongcai was held in Pyongyang to celebrate the anniversary.

A North Korean delegation led by Yang is visiting China at Beijing’s request to celebrate the singing of the agreement. The delegation arrived in the capital city on Saturday and will return home on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Chinese delegation headed by Vice Premier Zhang Deijang of the State Council arrived in the North on Sunday and will stay until Wednesday to mark the anniversary.
