Typhoon Ma-on May Impact S. Korea

The sixth typhoon of the year has formed northeast of Guam and it is still unknown whether it will have any impact on South Korea.

Typhoon Ma-on is medium in strength and has been forecast to move west towards the seas south of Japan where it is expected to expand in size strength.

In addition, the edges of a North Pacific high pressure front remains above central South Korea, which increases the likelihood of the typhoon moving north towards the Korean Peninsula.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that two or three more typhoons could impact South Korea through September.
