Kim Jong-un, the Vice Chairman of North Korea’s National Defense Commission and the heir apparent of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, has appeared in a picture posted on the Web site of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The picture posted on Wednesday shows Kim Jong-il meeting with China’s Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang, who visited the North to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the two nations. Kim Jong-un was included in the picture behind his father.

Chinese media outlets have often carried pictures or videos of the North’s heir apparent, but it is rare for a Chinese ministry to post his picture on its Web site.
